Caravan of Warmth

We had a great time being part of Slung Low’s Winter Fayre at HUB (Holbeck Urban Ballroom). It’s a notoriously cold building with an extremely warm welcome so we created the Caravan of Warmth with hot water bottles, cosy blankets, lounge music, hot chocolate and flapjacks.

It was the first cold snap of the winter so we were very appreciated!

Light Night – The Midnight Fairground at WYP

We’re back at The West Yorkshire Playhouse again, and this time it’s for Light Night on Friday 5th October.

We’ll be donning lots of black and becoming mysterious fortune telling types for The Midnight Fairground; a combination of storytelling, performance, music and dressing-up. There’s more info on the WYP website.

The after-party goes on until 1am, but if you want us to look into the mysteries of your past and future then be sure to get there before 10pm.

Caravan and Corsets

So for Unlimited Theatre’s The Giant and The Bear, a family show, we decided to dress in stripey tights and corsets! We had a amazing time being a tattoo parlour and the show went really well. Looking forward to a possible tour …

As well as designing special Giant and Bear tattoos, we also designed and made lots of lovely momentos of the show, which went down really well.

Melbourne Street Studios Summer Party – Saturday 28th July

We’re doing more temporary tattoos, hooray! This time it’s at Melbourne Street Studios for their Summer Party. There’s talk of face painting too and we’re very excited to be involved. It’s going to be a great day/night. There are more details on Facebook

The party is also part of a wider event called Come Find Us, a showcase of the creative organisations around Mabgate and Sheepscar.

The caravan will be appearing at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Sat 30th June – Sun 8th July

We are very proud to be involved with Unlimited Theatre Company’s new family show The Giant and The Bear. It’s all based around a circus and they have actually erected a big top on a carpark behind the West Yorkshire Playhouse! We’ve seen a few bits and pieces and think it’s going to be amazing. Check out the WYP website for more details and tickets.

The caravan is taking on another new persona, as a tattoo parlour! Nothing permanent of course, it’ll be those fab temporary tattoos you got in sweet packets in the 80s (except better quality!). We’ll also be selling some hand-made circus themed stuff, including cakes, badges, postcards, peg dolls, masks, cute tiny teddy bears and anything else we can manage to make before next week!

Really hope to see you there. If you can’t get tickets you can still come down to see us from about 30 minutes before the family showtimes, just outside the main entrance to the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

We’re in discussion with a few people at the moment about what the caravan will be getting up to over the summer. More news will follow once things have been confirmed.

Have a look at the pictures on our caravan page if you’re interested in hiring it for your event, it’s been lots of different thing in its time: a mini cinema, a VIP interview space, part of a theatre installation, a pop-up tea room, a futuristic immerson experience and mascot for the Leeds International Film Festival in 2010!

It can be hired on it’s own but we often design an experience around it so we can be hired with it in various guises. Please get in touch if you want to talk how we could work with you.

New website

The Rayon Rose girls and our caravan are hibernating for the winter. We have managed to set up a new website though, because we can do that in front of the fire.

We are also contemplating festivals for the summer and arty caravan shenanigans.

There will be more here over the next few months…

PS Please can we also apologise to anyone who sent us an email in 2011 that we didn’t reply to. In making our transition from vintage fairs and cakes into more caravan-based arts events we rather neglected our emails… and our twitter account… oh and facebook too. Sorry.
